Flat clearances often involve less floor area than a house, but they can take longer per item. Stairs, lift dimensions, loading restrictions, parking distance and shared entrances can all affect the crew, time and price.
Details that help an accurate quote
Explain:
- the floor level
- whether there is a working lift and its approximate size
- the number of internal or external steps
- the distance from the entrance to likely vehicle parking
- controlled parking or loading restrictions
- concierge, management or booking requirements
- narrow doors, corridors or stair turns
- any items likely to need dismantling
Photographs of access may help, but avoid including names, post, family photographs, keys, security systems or neighbours.
Protect shared areas
The contracted operator should agree how communal doors, lifts, walls and floors will be protected. Building management may require a particular time window, lift booking, proof of insurance or supervision. Confirm the rules before the clearance date.
Parking in Southampton
City-centre and inner-neighbourhood properties may have controlled zones, limited loading or no convenient space next to the entrance. A long carry increases time and manual handling. The contractor is responsible for planning its lawful vehicle access and should not assume that pavement parking is acceptable.
Item and property boundaries
Clearly identify any shared store, bike area, bin room or parking-space items. A contractor should not remove anything from a communal area without evidence that the customer has authority to do so.
What may need special handling
Large appliances, mattresses, televisions, batteries, paint, gas cylinders, chemicals and contaminated contents should be declared in advance. Some buildings also restrict moving large items at particular times.
Contractor relationship
When live routing is available, the operator named on the form will assess access, provide the quote and contract directly. This website does not supply a crew, vehicle or booking.
